Steps today: 23 605 / 15.56 km
We visited Montauban today, arriving there around 10AM. The weather was on an upwards swing, starting off with potential drizzle in the morning and leading to clear skies in the afternoon... I don't even remember if we dragged the umbrellas along.
It was a pleasant half-day.
We started with a visit to the Église Saint-Jacques
And then an aimless wander around town
Check out these benches!! That could potentially scare the shit out of someone!!!!!
Time for a drink stop!
And then more wandering
Still feeling good after supper, we switched to another café down the row for a little dessert and a night cap.
A little stroll through the Jardins des Plantes... which to me was more trees than plants and flowers. Perhaps still to early in the year?
We stopped for lunch around 12:30 when the sun came out, and then it was back to Toulouse for the rest of the day.
We got back to Toulouse a bit before 3 and our first stop was a coffee break. I'd had a headache for the past two, three days and Tylenol and water were not helping. Then today it dawned on me: it was caffeine withdrawal! At home I have on average 3 cups of coffee a day. On vacation, it's a little espresso in the morning and that's it. After this stop (and another one about an hour later) my headache was GONE! I was new woman!
We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring a little more of Toulouse, the weather was much better than yesterday! Beautiful buildings all over town.
Then, the St-Etienne Cathedral
Then, the St-Etienne Cathedral
Another walk along the waterfront that was infinitely better than yesterday's version in the cold wind!
Then around 6ish we made it back to Place du Capitole and picked one of the many cafés for supper. It was just a sandwich for me because I was not that hungry... but this one included wine and table service unlike the one in Bayonne so it was great!
Still feeling good after supper, we switched to another café down the row for a little dessert and a night cap.
By 8PM we headed back to room. Another very nice day to add to the many we had so far.
