France 2025 - Day 12 / Albi

Steps today: 18 100 / 11.93 km

Day tripping again today - this time to Albi

The weather threatened drizzle, but it never happened. It was overcast in the morning, but we had nice blue skies in the afternoon.

We took our time again in the morning, getting to Albi by about 10:30AM.  We set off to the old town and I was blown away by the Sainte Cecile Cathedral - it was MASSIVE!

I tried to convey in a picture just how gargantuan the bell tower was by asking Frank to stand at the base... but even so the picture doesn't quite express the feeling you get when you're standing in front of such a humongous building!

Church services were on going until 11:30AM therefore we couldn't visit the cathedral yet. To kill time, we walked down to the riverbank and took a walk along there. Beautiful

The sights nearby to the Cathedral were pleasant too...

Finally church was done and we could get in. WOW. what a never ending source of eye candy!! It was all so gorgeous!!! so colourful and vibrant!  Sorry for the photo-dump here, but I'm still not over it.

It was after 12:30 when we were done, so it was time for lunch.  The clouds were steadily dissipating so it was fine for sitting outside

The atmosphere was great, but the service was really slow and I was starting to feel like we were missing out on some sightseeing time.

After lunch (about 2 hours) we visited the Berbie Palace Gardens - more eye candy!

It seemed everywhere we turned there were cute and beautiful things to see!

By 3:30, it was time for a drink stop...

And we caught the train back to Toulouse around 5PM.  Supper was back in the Place du Capitole again for our final meal in the city around 7PM; we really enjoyed that area over the 5 days we were here!

I indulged in lots of winey and cheesy goodness again...

And by about 8:30 we were back in the room, packing up to move on tomorrow - 4:30AM wake up call!
