France 2025 - Day 2 / Paris

Steps today: 30 193 / 19.91 km

Perfect temperature to start the day! My perfect range is sunny 13ºC to overcast 18ºC and this morning was in the sweet spot.  We took a nice long walk through the Montparnasse Cemetery and Luxembourg Gardens before breakfast.

After we were fueled-up, we headed to Notre Dame to see what the line-ups looked like.  They were SO SO SO SO long we didn't even consider it for a split second!  We waved Hello and kept on walking.

Like yesterday, no real plans, and I was not in mega-picture mode either. It was just a morning to wander and appreciate.

By 11AM, it was freezing in the shade and melting in the sun. After too much heat, I was getting grumpy so it was time to stop for a Montbazillac pick-me-up.

Next: time to think about lunch. On my list was Les Deux Magots for a cheese plate so off we went, about a 30-minute walk away. (Passing views on the way)

I have to say I was disappointed. In the past, the dish included a bed of lettuce and a decorative cherry tomato or two. Now they just plop the cheese on a plate and for the price you pay here, it was sub par. This used to be a destination spot but I think I'm over it now.

I digested the dairy-feast with a long walk down St Germain to the Seine, only taking a few pictures along the way. It was a strange visit so far as far as pictures went.... but when it's the 11th time you see a city, pictures don't feel as "necessary" some how.

We walked around Les Invalides (no pics), then stopped for drinks again!

More aimless wandering, took us to the Quai Grenelle and the Statue of Liberty (no pics of her this time)

A walk down "Swan Island" to the Bir Hakim Bridge....

And then thoughts of food and drink.

First a drink to refresh and recover from the walk:

Then supper at Le Select, it was great! I had a goat cheese salad because I was craving SOME form of vegetable! There was a time I wouldn't have thought twice about getting the veggies in on vacation, but I find now that I feel I NEED it.  Oh how things have changed!

I think we were back in the room by about 8ish or so, time to pack up and move on tomorrow.
