I forget now why we picked Montreux for today. We stayed here twice before in 2006 and 2011 for a few days, plus I visited in 2001 and maybe before as a kid.... so I guess I thought a return visit would be nice.
There wasn't really that much on the agenda for today, first was coffee and a danish after the 2+ hour ride
And then a leisurely walk along the lake. It was beautiful and I could not believe how many flowers were still in bloom!
And of course: Freddy!
We finally arrived at the Chateau de Chillon, and slipped in with a tour group next to a window with no one controlling tickets! We didn't linger long inside, Frank wasn't in the mood so we mostly just enjoyed the impressive outside.
Next there was a little café nearby where we stopped for a rest... but the heat (to me) was on triple max. I had sweat rolling down my back and had to insist to Frank that we sit outside. He was a trooper and went along. God love him.
We parted ways after this - it was their turn to visit Chillon, and Frank and I wandered around town a little more.
We thought we'd see the Old Town and it was a flop. Nothing that interesting to see, uphill, and I was still dying of heat so the excursion just made me want to jump into the lake to cool down.
I had enough after this and we decided to leave. Destiny was with me because we caught the train back by SECONDS, and had simple snacks in the dining car in lieu of supper.
