Ahhhh back in Paris again. So nice đź’™
The train journey from Le Havre is a little more than 2 hours. We arrived in Paris a bit before 10:30 and got to the hotel by 11AM where we were thrilled to find the room was ready for us.
We've stayed in this hotel before, so by default you know we like it, but only for a day or two. I would not stay here for the entire trip because it's stuffy, there are no plugs by the bed and despite being a good sized room there is not enough room for your stuff so you can't really unpack.
All of this can be overlooked because of it's excellent location. It's right across the street from the RER station that brings us back to the airport - convenience wins.
After we settled in, Step one was going to Rostand for lunch. I like this café because it's one of the few I know about that have a non-smoking terrasse. Lots of construction around so it wasn't as nice as previous visits. I had my usual sandwich of dry salami, but there was noticeably less meat in it this time... does this mean the end of Simone at Rostand?
We walked through the Luxembourg Garden to get there
Along the way, we walked passed Notre Dame - still a lot of work to do
Shots along the Sully Bridge
It's a tent-city along the canal, we're seeing more and more of this in Paris
We made it to Bastille - the base had recently been vandalized following the ongoing student protests currently up-ending all of France.
Shame. Crews were on site cleaning it, they say it will take 2 weeks.
We made it to the CafĂ©. I like it, Frank hates it so we won't be back. He feels the area seems run down. I like the shade trees. But regardless, we won't be back because the asshole waiter screwed us out of 6€ and neither one of us wanted to make a fuss. We felt like total idiots afterwards, who needs reminders of that.
From here, we walked to Place de la République which was nice and clean and calm on this day. I wanted to show Frank where I stayed when I was here with Vesna for a week in March. The hotel was near by.
We wandered around some more, and then hung out in Square Émile Chautemps for about an hour where Frank took a little bench nap. He still just had a maybe-cold but was tired.
For supper, I wanted to bring Frank to see the Bouillon Julien, yet another restaurant with a jewel-box interior. He was very underwhelmed. I think I had gone on and on and on about it too much that he was just fed up with it already before we even went.
Eating was turning into a problem because we were just not hungry anymore. 2 weeks of pigging out was getting to us Big Time. Good quick food, but I couldn't finish.
We walked back to the hotel after supper, just enjoying beautiful Paris
All through the trip I have been using A.I. to edit obstacles out of my pictures, it's great... but not perfect. This edit is particularly funny: what's a Rescatont? HAHAHAHA
