London 2019 – Day 5

Steps today: 17 105 (according to my Fitbit. My mom’s phone says 19 334)

Again today in the interest of saving time, we used public transportation more than walking. We want to get in as much as we can so if we’ve already explored a certain area, we don’t feel the need to do it again on foot if it means taking time away from the next activity.

We had gorgeous weather again today and my sunburns are not getting worse. I’m still a little red, but it will fade.

Temps have been around 23°C the last few days (if not more) which is objectively too hot for me, but we’ll take it over rain! We feel spoiled rotten by all this wall-to-wall blue sky and sunshine!

Today we started with a re-visit to Buckingham Palace and also a quick look at St James Palace.

From there we walked to Victoria Station so my mom could buy some souvenirs, and then we tubed it back to the hotel to drop them off in the room as well as our jackets. It was great not to carry them around all day – to the point where tomorrow we’re thinking of not even brining them to start. The mornings are cool but by 10 or 11 AM we already don’t need them.

After that pitstop, we went to the Victoria & Albert Museum across the street. What a strange place! I have heard it described as “the nation’s attic” and it’s too true! It’s a complete mishmosh of all sorts of interesting things, but it spans SO MANY subjects and topics and genres that you have no CLUE what to explore!!

What particularly captivated my attention were the mosaic tables. I find this kind of thing fascinating!

From there, we made our way to Yo! Sushi (yet another chain) restaurant that serves sushi on a converyor belt. SO MUCH FUN and really delicious…  although I think it’s best to go when it’s really super-mega busy because the more people are there, the more dishes they have to supply, and the belt would remain full. For us, we had a few large gaps and there were 2 particular dishes I was waiting for and they never came around. Still, overall it was excellent!

It was almost 2:30 by the time we left and our plan was to have desert in the renound Harrods Food Hall – but just our luck: they were closed for Easter. So instead, we went to the Museum of London, but I feel that our hearts weren’t really in it because we were a little museumed-out after rummaging though the attic all morning and also still kinda full from lunch. We grazed though it for about an hour tops.

We then made our way to the area around St Paul’s to have a rest, and got supberb seats at a resto will a full-on view of the front of the church. What a treat! We weren’t that hungry since our late lunch filled us up, so we just had a few drinks and snacks and then headed back to the hotel to try the restaurant there for a small meal.

How Cow was the hotel restaurant ever good!!! It was really just the breakfast room all gussied up, and it was completely empty – to the point where we wondered it if was even open!

No regrets whatsoever it was a splendid meal.

Now it’s time to shower and hit the sack!

Good night.
