Another easy day trip today and one I was looking forward to for a long time: Juno Beach
Once we figured out how the busses work (where the stops are, what it costs and how to pay), getting there was easy - one ride, a little over an hour. The weather scared us more than the travel logistics because it was going to be cold and windy. I was not that prepared for cold weather and the spectre of catching a cold was always lingering.
The D-Day Museum was great, very informative and extensive.... but like with all museums no matter how captivating they are, the information just stops sinking in after a while. I think we spend about 90 minutes inside.
After the beach, we had a nice lunch...
... walked by the harbour again...
... then headed back to Caen. We JUST made the bus back, caught it within 3 minutes. Had we missed it, it would have been an hour wait. Phew!
We got back to Caen around 4:30 and headed for the Castle.
Then we strolled around the ramparts taking in the views of the city
Supper was something fast and easy and touristy, we were in for another early night tonight. How fitting was this place!
Great day, so thankful we had blue skies, this would have been dreadful in the rain!
