Steps today: 17 451. Feels wrong!
We went to visit Saint-Malo today, it was nice but SMALL! Did I miss half of it?
The walk to the Old Town from the train station is about 20 minutes, and within the walled city everything is within a 10-minute walk. I suppose therefore the step-count could be correct.
We started the day with a visit to the Cathédrale Saint-Vincent which has a lot of ties to Canada, including the tomb of Jacques Cartier!
I also lit a candle for my dad on what would have been his 82nd birthday
Next, a walk out to the lighthouse which offers great views of Saint Malo on the way back
Then a stroll along the ramparts with great views out towards the English Channel
Here when the tide allows, you can walk over to the island and visit the grave of Chateaubriand (yes the dish is named after him). We didn't do it but these intrepid tourists gave it a go! Looks to me that the path is disappearing, hope they didn't get stranded.
We wandered around town for a while, didn't take many pictures, then stopped for a drink.
Spotted on the way back to the train station.. a pine tree with clusters of cones - beautiful!
We were back in Rennes a little before 4, very tired, so we plonked down for drinks at the terrasses in front of the hotel and just chilled.
We didn't know what we felt like doing next, we eventually just stayed put and had supper there too.
We were tired and it was an early night for us, we were gonners by 6:30.
